Engines roared and crowds cheered as the much-anticipated Lubowa Ignition Tournament kicked off on Sunday, June 1, with a high-octane karting competition that brought together celebrities, media personalities, DJs, and event organizers for an unforgettable day of speed, fun, and friendly rivalry.
Held at Lubowa Karting along Entebbe Road, the tournament started with a junior category that saw young racers impress the audience with their sharp skills and fearless maneuvering on the track.

The spotlight, however, quickly shifted to the celebrity showdown — a hilarious yet thrilling segment where musicians, MCs, and other entertainment figures ditched their familiar roles to try their hands at kart racing. What began as a dry run quickly turned into a chaotic comedy of crashes and missed turns, leaving spectators in stitches.
But the amateurs weren’t to be underestimated. After getting the hang of the track, the race was officially on. In a surprise victory, media personality Sammy Wetale took the top spot, closely followed by Alibhai in second place and popular rapper Big Trill in third.

The electrifying action on the track was matched by the energy off it, with DJ Tony spinning non-stop party mixes that kept the vibes high and the crowd moving.
Emil Kwame Ampofo, Director of Lubowa Karting, praised the event’s success, saying,
“We were captivated by the drama on track, especially from the celebrities who took part in our inaugural Ignition Tournament. The competitors and spectators truly made it a memorable event.”

With roaring engines, celebrity antics, and an enthusiastic crowd, the Lubowa Ignition Tournament has set a new benchmark for adrenaline-filled entertainment in Kampala. Organizers hinted at more editions in the future, promising even bigger and better action on the track.
