Singer Maro opened up about a deeply personal chapter of his life, revealing how hitting the gym played a key role in helping him overcome depression during his stay in Germany.
Speaking about his mental health journey, Maro explained that fitness became more than just physical exercise, it turned into therapy that helped him regain emotional balance and clarity.

According to the singer, committing to the gym helped him redirect negative thoughts and focus on self-improvement.
When I started taking good care of myself, I decided to take depression to the gym. The gym helps a lot in overcoming depression. It’s a place where you rest your mind.
When you sit on the bench lifting weights, your thoughts travel far and you begin to reflect on what you can accomplish and what you can’t. It helps your mind open up.
Maro added that moments of rest between workouts often sparked creativity and self-realization, helping him rebuild confidence and mental strength.
The “Anjagala” hitmaker also reflected on a recent encounter that left him disappointed while out at a nightclub.
He narrated how a popular TikToker appeared to ignore his greeting despite him intentionally approaching her out of respect.
I greeted her because she is popular and I know her, I don’t pretend. But she shook my hand while looking the other side as if she didn’t know me. There is no artist trending in Uganda right now who doesn’t know my songs.
He noted that such experiences no longer affect him emotionally, emphasizing that personal growth has taught him not to attach excessive importance to validation from others.
Maro concluded by urging people to remain grounded, stressing that fame or popularity should never make anyone feel superior to others, describing life as a continuous journey of self-realization and personal growth.
